Tee Ball (No Pitcher)
League Age: 5-6
Kindergarteners
Tee Ball is an introduction to baseball for our youngest players. The focus is on learning to throw and catch and understanding basic rules like "when you hit the ball, you run." This level is fun for new players, but can be frustrating for players who already know the game. Consider having your child play Farm A if they want more of a challenge.
We do ask that parents/guardians attend both practices and games to help with child management.
Team Selection: Teams are organized by the League based on school, coach, and player requests.
Team Size: Capped at 8 players for safety and sanity reasons.
Practices: Fernwood, Rose City Park, or Roseway Heights, on a weeknight. Practices are one hour long.
Game Locations: Typically at Fernwood or Roseway Heights. Games are always on Saturdays.
Game Structure: Games are one hour long and may be up to 3 innings.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours weekly.
Equipment Needed: Batting helmet, youth baseball glove that your child can grow into. You do not need to buy a tee ball bat.
*The League will allow four-year-olds only if they turn five before the end of June 2025.
Farm A (Coach Pitch)
League Age: 6-7
A few advanced kindergarteners and most first graders
Farm A is best for kids who feel comfortable with the basics of baseball and no longer need to use a tee. At this level, kids continue to work on accurately throwing and catching the ball. They also learn the basics of swinging at live pitches. If your first grader is starting baseball at this level, coaches will make the call on whether a tee is needed during the early part of the season. That said, our coaches strive to have all kids "tee-less" after the first month of play.
Team Selection: Teams are organized by the League based on school, coach, and player requests.
Team Size: Capped at 12 players, though 11 is the ideal roster.
Practices: Once per week at Rose City Park, or Roseway Heights. Practices are 90 minutes long.
Game Locations: Typically at Normandale Park, twice per week (one weeknight)
Game Structure: Players arrive 30 minutes before the games, which are 90 minutes long.
Time Commitment: 6-8 hours weekly.
Equipment Needed: Batting helmet, youth baseball glove, bat (if desired).
Farm AA (Player & Coach Pitch)
League Age: 7-8
A few advanced first graders and most second graders
Farm AA is when baseball may become intimidating to kids, thanks to the introduction of kid pitch. The games also become more competitive. No need to worry, however, as the coaches will work with your player to get comfortable with the shift. Coaches pitch the first two innings, players pitch the remaining innings.
Team Selection: Teams are organized by the League based on school, coach, and player requests.
Team Size: Capped at 12 players, though 11 is the ideal roster.
Practices: Rose City Park or Roseway Heights. Practices are 90 minutes on a weekday.
Game Locations: Typically at Normandale Park.
Game Structure: 6 innings, or 90 minutes.
Time Commitment: 7-9 hours weekly. Games are on Mondays or Wednesdays, and also Saturdays.
Equipment Needed: Batting helmet, youth baseball glove, bat.
This is the first level where the Tournament of Champions is offered at the end of the season.
Minors (Player Pitch)
League Age: 8-10
A few advanced second graders, all third graders, and most fourth graders
Minors is entirely player pitch, which makes it a faster-paced game than Farm AA. Games feature live pitching, stealing, and bunting. The infield fly rule is finally in effect. Players should be able to throw more accurately at this level and should feel comfortable in the batter's box. General rules of the game need to be understood before joining a Minors team.
Team Selection: Teams are organized through an evaluation and draft process. All players will be chosen for a team.
Team Size: Capped at 12 players, though 11 is the ideal roster.
Practice: Fernwood, Roseway Heights, Normandale. Practices are two hours long on a weeknight.

Time Commitment: 8-11 hours weekly; games are on Monday or Wednesday, and also Saturday.
Specials: Stealing and bunting are now allowed.
Equipment Needed: Batting helmet, bat, baseball glove.
Majors (Player Pitch)
League Age: 10-12

*Team Selection for Minors and Majors
Minors and Majors teams are assembled via a draft process. Yes, this sounds intense, but it’s basically a group of coaches getting together to draft teams based on evaluation results. Most coaches know each other and work to keep friends together. That said, we cannot guarantee your player will be selected for the team they note during registration. We can guarantee that your player will have a great season, and may even make new friends.
All Minors and Majors players must attend evaluations, which will take place on either February 22 or March 1, 2025, at McDaniels High School. Your player will be assigned one of two dates. These evaluations will be rain or shine, as we can access to the indoor facilities this year. You must choose one of the dates. Your player does not need to attend both dates.
Evaluations usually run for about 2 hours, covering everything from hitting and pitching to throwing and fielding to attitude and sportsmanship. The results are shared only with coaches and are used in order to create balanced teams.
Don’t worry if your player struggles at evaluations. Everyone will be placed on a team, regardless of position in the draft.
VERY IMPORTANT: Siblings are always drafted to the same team, and up to three players stay with their parents if a parent is coaching. Each team may only have three official coaches who attend the draft -- we do this to prevent stacked rosters. Players may note requests for other players or coaches during registration, but be prepared to play on whichever team drafts your player. If your player does not attend evaluations, they will not be placed on a team.
