Fall Baseball Registration

Hello HRCLL Families,

Given all the uncertainty we are facing due to Covid-19, we wanted to drop you an email about Fall Ball. To deal with these challenges, we are making a few changes this year:

1. We have decided to open registration a bit early this year; we will open tomorrow, on July 20th rather than early August. We hope this registration period will give families more time to consider their options and make plans.

2. Fall Ball will only happen if/when Multnomah County reaches Phase 2, which may or may not happen any time soon. Therefore, while it is possible that Fall Ball will not take place, we are still planning for the season so we will be ready if it is safe to play.

3. Given the uncertainty, registration will be wait list only at this point, which will help us avoid a potentially lengthy refund process in the event we are not able to have a Fall season, and will allow us to apply the full credits for those who already paid for Spring Baseball. If you paid in the Spring you are all set to play in the Fall.

4.  As of right now, our planned start to Fall Ball is one week after we move into Phase 2. We are able to build teams off the waitlist; therefore, once phase 2 occurs, we can notify families, finalize the registration process, and begin practicing within approximately 1 week.

5. If/when the season starts, we will have a comprehensive safety plan in place, which will keep us in compliance with state and local guidance.

6. This fall we will offer baseball for players who were enrolled in Spring Farm AA, Minors and Majors. Unfortunately due to age, safety requirements, etc we will NOT be offering Fall baseball for those who were enrolled in T-ball or Farm A.
   a. Majors and Minors will interlock with other North and Northeast Portland leagues so that we can minimize travel to other parts of the city and region.

   b. Farm AA will be HRCLL only. We think it is important to give kids who missed their Spring AA season a chance at this level before potentially moving to Minors in the spring.

   c. For Majors and Minors fall ball, we recommend that players sign up for the level they would have played in Spring 2020. If families are interested in moving up a level we are very happy to discuss that in more detail. Our main goal for the fall season is to make sure kids have fun, get outside and be in a strong position to transition to the Spring 2021 season.

   d. For graduating 12 year olds (turning 13 by August 31, 2021), we recommend kids play in Grant Youth Baseball which will prepare them for playing on the larger field in the upcoming Spring (but sign-up and email us if you feel your child is best suited to play an in HRC on the smaller diamond this fall). Please check out their website: https://www.grantyouthbaseball.org.

7. As with all other Fall Ball seasons, space is limited. We expect to be able to accommodate most or all interested players, but we depend on enough volunteers to field teams. Therefore, players will be assigned to teams on a first-come first -served basis, so please register ASAP.

Stay safe and healthy, and please be in touch with any questions.
